Hey Family-
We just returned from a nice few days at the cabin. It was chilly but we certainly didn't mind it as we are heading into some hot times here in the valley. I wanted to let you know about the state of repair that we found some things in. I don't know if we need to plan a family work day or each of us take a project but it seems there are a few things that need doing.
- The hose bib to the washing machine downstairs leaks. It currently is turned off at the source but before anyone does any laundry it will need to be replaced.
- The belt to the green Hoover Decade Supreme vacuum cleaner upstairs is broken. I thought I had seen some "extras" somewhere but couldn't find them. The belt # is 38528-040-Q.
- The downstairs TV gets no reception. It needs to be replaced. The extra DVD players from the cottage and the upstairs TV area are now all down in the basement. Perhaps we could set one of those up downstairs in addition to the VCR that is there.
- The ballast to the fluorescent lights in the kitchen need to be replaced. Sometimes that light works and sometimes it just flickers, but the bulbs are good.
- Many of the electrical outlets don't work. Brian checked to see if we hadn't just blown some fuses but thinks it might be a larger electrical problem.
- The motion detector lights don't work. Brian changed the bulbs and changed the setting to see if it was just the bulbs being burned out but again it seems to be part of the larger electrical problem.
- The doorknob on the bunkbed room won't catch and hold to keep the door shut.
- There has been a leak in the cottage kitchen area that has curled up the tile. Shawn thought it was probably from the small hot water heater that is located under the kitchen sink. The particle board floor will need to be replaced before we can retile the kitchen in the cottage.
- There is a pipe broken lower down by the garden area.
Jen got a permit from the Fire Department in Strawberry to burn pine needles in the fire pit. The bottom section of the property is looking really good. The permit is good through 9/14/11 so we can continue working on some of the areas that haven't been raked well yet.
Whoever goes up next might want to take some dish soap if you are going for more than a day or two. I'll also have some towels to return for the next group going up. We could also use some more metal forks in the kitchen.
Thanks,
Delight
